Worksafe Review of Electrical Codes of Practice - Consultation

Published: 8 April 2016 Category: Industry News

Worksafe (Energy Safety) has initiated a business improvement programme of work to review industry-specific cited and non-cited Electrical Codes of Practice (and also Gas Codes of Practice). This is to ensure that the content is still valid and to determine (subject to public consultation) whether they should be revoked, revised or reconfirmed. Codes and specifications in high demand and those referenced or cited in legislation should be frequently revised to ensure they remain up-to-date.

Worksafe Review of Electrical Codes of Practice - Consultation

Codes of Practice in excess of 20 years old and no longer cited in the current Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 or Gas (Safety and Measurement) Regulations 2010 are being proposed for withdrawal, unless Worksafe (Energy Safety) receives written advice to the contrary supported by technical evidence. This approach recognises that some of these Codes may well still be used within the industry and by other agencies and Energy Safety would like to hear if this is the case. ECP34 is one of the Codes listed.

The consultation closes on Friday 29th April.

EEA will prepare a draft submission for comment but in the meantime if you have any views please let Peter Coyle know at [email protected].
