This consultation relates directly to impacts on distribution pricing of grid supplied electricity and is a proposal to encourage electricity distributors.
With the growth of consumer led, centric and orientated solar PV and associated energy technology and services in New Zealand, that spells warning signals for the incumbent electricityregime, the Electricity Authority released its consultation paper on emerging technology impacts in November 2015. This consultation relates directly to impacts on distribution pricing of grid supplied electricity and is a proposal to encourage electricity distributors to consider other forms of pricing to reflect what they call a fair regime for pricing of their distribution services - to pay for the upkeep of the grid.
SEANZ submitted a response on behalf of the solar PV and storage industry, as well as a group of solar PV prosumers to address concerns over the Electricity Authority's comments that imply solar PV uptake needs to be reduced, the thinking behind this, a way forward for the industry as well as a practical alternative solution to the issue.
