LIGHTEN UP!

Published: 29 September 2014 Category: Manufacturer News

Prysmian Group is supplying more than 74.000 households with renewable solar energy. This is yet another successful example of Prysmian Group’s well-known expertise in developing cable solutions tailor-made to their client’s requirements.

LIGHTEN UP!
Prysmian Group is part of the realisation of the southern hemisphere’s largest solar farm project, located in Nyngan and Broken Hill, New South Wales.
We will be supplying AC and DC feeder cables for the solar panels, combiner boxes and switch room. In total 344 km of cable, says Mark Dabbs, Business Development Manager at Prysmian Group.

This is a First Solar project spearheaded by AGL Energy, supported by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and the New South Wales Government. Combined the two solar farms will produce an annual output of 359 GWh, enough energy for nearly 75 000 average households. The solar farms represent a total investment of  $440 million whereof $3.5 million worth of cables.

“Prysmian Group has been co-operating with First Solar since their first project in Australia – the Greenough River Solar Farm near Geraldton, Western Australia. And since then our partnership has grown thanks to our deep knowledge in the exceptional Australian conditions and ability to customise our cable solutions to specific needs” says Mark Dabbs.

This is one of several projects in which Prysmian Group is connecting Australians to renewable energy using quality cables produced by our experienced teams in China and Australia, Mark Dabbs concludes.
