Waiting lounges, can there be a better out-of-home recharge location?
Waiting lounges, can there be a better out-of-home recharge location?
The Melbourne domestic airport is currently trialling the Legrand Excel Life USB Powerpoints in gate lounges.
After an initial period of "what's that" hesitation, passengers have now embraced the new powerpoints with full gusto.
Each double GPO contains a dual USB charging module. Both sockets within the module have 2.1A charge rates (4.2A in total), the fastest on the market. This means tablets can be charged efficiently too.
With limited time available in waiting lounges (except for the dreaded flight delay), faster USB charging for both phones and tablets is advantageous for passengers. As are dual sockets in one compact module - the more, the better in this gadget hungry era.
Here's a comparison table of charging time data.

Whilst we hope we're never delayed in an airport lounge long enough to charge an iPad from flat to full, I think we can agree: where there's a waiting room, there's a prime opportunity to sell-in USB powerpoints.
