Innovation took centre stage during the ELIOT launch at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney's The Rocks on Wednesday 5 July.

The ELIOT program is a global initiative by Legrand. It encompasses the brand’s ambition to drive product innovation through cloud-based connectivity and foster partner relationships within the IoT space.
The Legrand Internet of Things solutions were on full display with interactive stations and hands-on experiences for the gathered attendees from all sectors of the Legrand family, with the assembled crowd delighting at the possibilities that the future technology can afford.
CEO of Legrand Australia and New Zealand, Tony Berland, was excited about what the future holds, saying that the IoT is revolutionising the building sector and is rapidly creating a world of opportunities for electrical contractors. This was in association with two keynote speakers, Michael O’Keefe from Microsoft Australia and Frank Zeichner CEO of IoT Alliance Australia, who addressed the delegates and detailed the profound impact that new technology will have not only in the Australian market, but around the world.
Following the presentation, guests were invited to have a hands-on experience with several of Legrand’s ELIOT solutions:
- Classe 300 Wifi Door Entry System – The new connected video door entry system that allows the end-user to interact with the caller by voice or image. This can be managed locally or remotely via a tablet or smartphone.
- Smarther Thermostat – This is the newest innovation in temperature control. Working together with a Thermostat App, it is a device, allowing the end-user to adjust the temperature, anytime, anywhere.
- Arteor with Netatmo home controls – Arteor with Netatmo allows the end-user to operate traditional controls in the home such as lighting and shutters, and connect new devices when they wish.
- Novo IP Home Carephone – Novo is the new digital carephone from NEAT, a developer of Emergency Response Systems and a company of the Legrand Group. Bringing telecare a step forward with constant connectivity and real-time data communication, Novo brings a whole new sense of comfort and security for the home.
Legrand also gave our guests a chance to interact with its ELIOT launch in the social media space. Here, people took photos and shared their experiences on Instagram and Facebook. All photos uploaded with the #LegrandELIOT hashtag were shared on the Legrand Australia Instagram page.
The event was also streamed live on the newly launched Facebook page. With over 500 views within just 24 hours, users tuned in and saw the ELIOT solutions come to life.
Legrand’s key vision is to bring together an all-encompassing electronic co-ordination channel between people, the Internet and everyday devices, creating a dynamic eco-system of ‘smart communication’.
In 2015, Legrand made over 450 million dollars of connected item sales alone, and forecasts a double digit growth rate by the year 2020.
