Communications Alliance is calling for industry comment on the revised Requirements for installation of temporary field telecommunications customer cabling for defence purposes Standard (DR AS/CA S035:2014).

This Standard applies to the installation of temporary field cabling by Department of Defence personnel and overseas defence forces for defence purposes during exercise, training or operational deployment by the Department of Defence (DoD), or overseas defence forces exercising with Australian DoD personnel. It sets out the minimum requirements to ensure that the installation or use of the cabling does not expose Carrier personnel, cabling providers, end-users or other persons to any danger and that the installation or use of the cabling does not adversely affect the integrity of a Telecommunications Network.
Under telecommunications regulations, temporary cabling installed by DoD personnel and overseas defence forces is to comply with either AS/ACIF S009, current ADF cabling specifications or AS/ACIF S035. The draft AS/ACIF S035 Standard updates the 2006 reference of AS/ACIF S009 to the recently published AS/CA S009:2013 Standard in order for the requirements to be aligned with the current cabling installation practices mandated under Australian Telecommunications regulation.
The draft Standard can be downloaded from the Drafts for Public Comment page along with further information on how to submit comments. Information on the Working Committee which revised the Standard, including the Terms of Reference, can be found here.
The public comment period for the draft Standard closes at 5 pm AEDST on 27 February 2015.Communications Alliance is calling for industry comment on the revised Requirements for installation of temporary field telecommunications customer cabling for defence purposes Standard (DR AS/CA S035:2014).
